Damnern Saduak Floating Market

We traveled through the back canals in our long boats, 4-5 of us in each boat.
This truly was the most amazing river trip of my life.
Each moment was a slice of life, incredible moments in the lives of
those that live and depend on the river for everyday life.

Bathing and washing clothes…

cleaning fish for dinner…

children waving to us…we were their entertainment

my view, (I was in the front of the long boat)

chatting while the litte one brings out the pots to wash in the river…

Mother and son in a moment…

Passing by us on the river…

I was in a boat just like this one in front of us.

Here we are in the beginning of the Damnern Saduak Floating Market,
the most famous of Thailand’s floating markets.

Okay, seriously, this man is helping himself to something in OUR boat!

The vendors use a hook to pull passing boats closer to their ‘shops’.

No fingers on the boats or you’d lose them. This is the original bumper cars…

Okay…so this is the first Thai person, woman, man or child who I witnessed
who did not want their photo taken.
She was not happy with me…. at all!

How solid this woman looks…

I love both of these images, I couldn’t decide between the two.

Is that beer on her boat?

:(

isn’t she cute?

Piyawee, resident of Bangkok, Steve’s wife and our organizer, pointing to her refreshment.

Can you believe this site? look at all this food.
The boats are all pointing in different directions.
This is for real!

That’s Nevada (in the blue) working the river…

I just discovered this while I was posting…
Do you remember the woman in the two previous photos?
Here she is again, and I just noticed this, two months after returning from the trip!
Those weren’t two bottles of beer!
It must be some sort of sauce or dressing for what is in her other hand.

My favorite Pommello’s!

And lastly, a view from above.
